elemental – the online community for advancing technologies in heat, water, air and energy, and partners – whose mission is to give people confidence in low-carbon energy technology by defining, maintaining and improving quality, are looking to build a cross-industry coalition to support emerging ideas and budding talent.
“We want to nurture future leadership in the areas of sustainability and low carbon technology, said MCS CEO Ian Rippin. “The young people entering our industry today will have a huge responsibility on their shoulders since they will be the ones responsible for ensuring that the ambitious climate targets set by the Government are met.”
Future Leaders is a leadership development programme that will ensure our industry has the right people in place to promote low carbon technologies and the key role they will play in the green economy.
“We are at a hugely exciting time in terms of decarbonisation,” said elemental Director Mike Costain. “The low carbon wave is gaining momentum, so we need to be sure we have the right people in place to take this forward.” Future Leaders is a think tank and a talent generator. Through seminars, round-tables, conferences and training, the intention is to bring industry professionals, academia and government together to identify what needs to be done, who needs to do it, and what the roadmap looks like.
Effective leadership will be key to the success of a low carbon economy, and Future Leaders wants to ensure that we start to develop and encourage those leaders now. “The Government’s announcement in June 2019, affirming its commitment to net zero carbon emissions by 2050 is a really important step,” said Ian Rippin.
Future Leaders will be reaching out across our industry to welcome participation from as many stakeholders as possible. Equally, the organisation will be looking to build an influential lobby within Government and the wider sphere of influence.
A low carbon future is in everyone’s interest – so too is the need to build a competent and professional engine to drive this forward. Future Leaders wants to ensure we have the talent and drive to fuel that engine.
