Altecnic Ltd – supplier for hydronic solutions and part of the Caleffi Group – is the latest company chosen to join the Wates Innovation Network (WIN).

The WIN portal is the first initiative of its kind, created by the Wates Group and launched in March 2021 to help businesses ‘build back better’.

The portal connects companies directly, and free of charge, with partners that can offer solutions to help meet sustainability targets, with the aim of creating a network that will accelerate the transition to net zero by showcasing smarter solutions to design, construct and maintain buildings.

Altecnic has been providing the SATK32107 Heat Interface Unit (HIU) for 18 months as a development of the SATK32 range. Altecnic will feature on the WIN portal alongside 41 other suppliers approved by a screening panel including 40 environmental experts. Users can filter sustainable innovations based on their requirements to find the product and supplier most suitable for them.

The portal also allows for Altecnic to spread information and awareness on their SATK32107 HIU, which recorded the lowest VWART (Volume Weighted Average Return Temperature) and annual primary flow rate on the BESA UK HIU Test Regime. As a result, the SATK32107 highlighted its high level of efficiency on low temperature/ heat pump lead networks – a step towards future proofing heat networks.

Gary Perry, Managing Director at Altecnic, said: “We are delighted to be a partner of Wates and to have been selected by their panel of experts. Our SATK32107 HIU provides a step in the right direction of sustainable system design and efficiency.

“Innovation in heat interface unit technology is not new to us or our manufacturing colleagues at Caleffi. We believe that for the heat network industry to follow the recommendation that heat networks should be specified and developed with low temperature energy sources in mind, then the SATK32107 is a proven solution. We are excited to see what the future holds for the industry and for our partnership with Wates.”

Speaking about WIN, Dr Zainab Dangana, Head of Sustainable Technology for Wates Group, said: “Our search for Innovation Partners and the concept behind the WIN portal is to boost the industry’s move to zero carbon and support emerging green technologies. This campaign is a continuation of our search for new suppliers with a particular focus on the design and construction of low to high-rise residential developments. There must be many businesses out there who would like to work with Wates, and we are keen to find them too.”
