Changes to non-domestic RHI

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has announced changes which could be relevant to your heat network scheme if you are planning to access RHI support.

Tariff Guarantees and COVID Extension Application Budget Caps
BEIS is increasing the budget allocation for Ground & Water Source Heat Pumps within the third round of Tariff Guarantees, with effect from 1st February 2021. The TG3 budget allocation for these technologies will increase to £17m in 2021/22, and £28m in 2022/23.BEIS will provide notice by 1 January 2021 of any further changes to these budget allocations.

This publication also announces an increase to the technology specific budget for ‘extension applications’ from sub-100 kWth ground & water source heat pumps impacted by Covid-19 related delays, from £0.8m p/a to £3.6m p/a. This increase is intended to ensure that, based on latest market intelligence, all such projects that are able to fulfil the evidence requirements are able to proceed with an extension application.
