elemental is running several content theatres at InstallerSHOW this year, and we’ve just published the line-up in the Making Buildings Smarter Theatre, running on 21st and 22nd June at the NEC.
Kicking off the first day, 21st June, we have a session on the Energy Superhub Oxford, one of the world’s most ambitious urban decarbonisation projects. Hear from the team working on this government-backed project that will help Oxford reach net zero by 2040. Energy Superhub Oxford includes a powerful network providing rapid electric vehicle (EV) charging, hybrid battery storage, low carbon heating and smart energy management. It combines new technologies and financial models to create a blueprint for towns and cities across the UK to cut carbon emissions and improve air quality. Speakers for this session include Kensa Group’s Matt Trewhella alongside Tina Mould, Capital Programme Project Manager, Oxford City Council, and Tim Rose, Programme Manager, Energy Superhub Oxford, Pivot Power.
The second session of 21st June is on social housing and big data, looking at how data and analytics can help to deliver successful retrofit outcomes for social landlords looking to cut carbon, reduce tenants’ energy bills and ensure their properties are comfortable to live in. Speakers for this session include Neil Waite, Director, NetZero Collective and Dr Ben Roberts, Research Fellow, Building Energy Research Group, Loughborough University.
Then we have a session on future-proofing buildings with technology, with a discussion on how to make long-term thinking affordable ensuring that the technologies and smart solutions specified today will be fit for purpose in years to come. Our speakers include Chantel Scheepers CEO, OakTree Power and Paul Foulkes, KNX UK Vice Chair and KNX Business Manager for Theben UK, KNX.
On the second day, 22nd June, kicking things off will be a session on the balance between net zero and healthy buildings. Ella Clark Mechanical Engineer, Building Engineering, AECOM will be on the panel with James Thomas, Head of Smart Buildings & Technologies, Wates Integrated Construction Services.
There will also be a session on tracking and reducing energy use across an estate, with our panellists sharing their experiences of measuring – and reducing – energy use across a portfolio of buildings, and the role building optimisation plays. The speakers will be Steven Clarke, Key Account Manager, Wates Facilities Management, Alex Wells, Energy Officer, Cheltenham Borough Council, Mark Bruno, Chief Ambassador, CUBE and Terri Dale, Account Director, Wates Facilities Management.
The final session of the second day is looking at how building owners can approach rolling out EV chargepoints, covering funding and the challenges for owners of flats and apartments. The panel will be led by Dr Darren Handley, Head of Infrastructure Grants, OZEV, Department for Transport.
