Highlights from the first day of elemental at InstallerSHOW
Lord Callanan, the UK business & energy minister, addressed visitors to InstallerSHOW – and the elemental content theatres – yesterday, as the doors opened at the NEC for the three-day event.
In a video uploaded to elemental’s YouTube channel, Lord Callanan spoke about the pathway to reaching heat pump targets and the wider challenges of decarbonisation.
The UK’s biggest event for the plumbing, heating and electrical industry is running from 21st to 23rd June and this year, for the first time, includes the elemental theatres, with thought-provoking discussions on the subject of decarbonising heat and buildings, and the route to net zero.
Highlights of the first day included panel discussions on community energy options for local authorities, a showcase of the Energy Superhub Oxford project and a debate on future-proofing buildings with tech. There was also a series of hands-on taster training sessions for heating engineers and electricians, covering technology including EV charging points, solar PV, air source heat pumps, thermal storage and underfloor heating.
There are over 100 speakers sharing their knowledge and inspiring the audience during InstallerSHOW, and still to come in the last two days of the show there will be a keynote from environmental campaigner Jonathon Porritt, as well as plenty more opportunities to learn about how to tackle the key issues facing the industry when it comes to energy and heat.
Elsewhere at InstallerSHOW, visitors can discover the latest green technology, including in the Wates Innovation Zone. This area will feature exclusive product demos from a host of extensively vetted suppliers who can offer genuine, market-leading sustainable technology to help in the design, construction, maintenance and use of buildings. Just some of the innovators within the Wates Innovation Network include Solar glass, Hydrotap, Ecoprod, Beanbag, Dyson, Altecnic, Elysator and Mixergy.
InstallerSHOW and elemental run from 21-23 June at Birmingham’s NEC and free tickets are available at installershow.com
