Construction Innovation Hub’s toolkit for sustainability
The Construction Innovation Hub has introduced a Value Toolkit to support better decision-making and improve performance in key objectives including Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and the path towards Net Zero.
The toolkit is designed to deliver more sustainable outcomes and will also help clients to establish a value profile for each project or programme which will be shaped by strategic policy ambitions, such as achieving the net zero carbon target. At the same time, it will also help them select the best delivery model and commercial strategy to maximise the realisation of value. And, it will allow procurement choices to be made on delivery of best whole-life value, ensuring they are sustainable and viable.
The Construction Innovation Hub was launched in November 2018 and brings together expertise from the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC), BRE and the Centre for Digital Built Britain (CDBB) to transform the UK construction industry. With £72 million from UK Research and Innovation’s Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund, the Hub aims to change the way buildings and infrastructure are designed, manufactured, integrated and connected within the built environment.
