Energy Launchpad introduced to support innovation
Energy Systems Catapult has introduced Energy Launchpad, in place of its Innovator Support Platform, to help SME businesses with innovation.
Energy Launchpad will continue to provide three main levels of support – Universal, Incubator and Accelerator – offering SMEs opportunities to access technical energy system expertise, specialist support with business modelling and commercial propositions, and help to identify funding and investor readiness.
Paul Jordan, Business Lead for Innovator Support and International at Energy Systems Catapult, said: “Today really marks the start of the ignition sequence for Energy Launchpad and over the next few weeks and months we’ll be revealing new offerings to help innovators to take-off across the UK.
“Our existing Incubation and Acceleration services have been a great success – with innovators benefitting from tailored technical and commercial support to help address systemic barriers, de-risk innovation, help their businesses scale and secure investment.
“However, we’re enhancing other offerings, in particular, to help innovators to collaborate and branch out. This includes developing better collaboration between SMEs and the supply chain. Encouraging active investment from a broad range of investors to support the growth of innovators. And helping SMEs better understand international energy markets, including market structures and key contacts, and provide more opportunities to export UK Innovation.”
The Energy Launchpad will continue to help innovators navigate the challenges of energy system transformation and capture the opportunities.
The three levels are:
Universal is the front door to Energy Systems Catapult for SMEs, helping newcomers gain insight about the UK energy system and the Catapult, find partners, access events and workshops, plus sign-posting to: funding calls, investors and international opportunities.
Incubator is tailored support for selected SMEs utilising the Catapult assets and capabilities, and delivery partner offerings, such as business model development, energy system integration assessment, consumer insights guidance, digital fitness, market testing and validation, investor readiness, and specialist advice.
Accelerator provides scale-up support for selected high-impact potential SMEs. Support includes those areas outlined in incubation but in more depth, as well as help to access demonstration environments such as the Living Lab, engagement with potential corporate clients and investors, and links to international opportunities.
