New appointments for GSHPA

Laura Bishop - Infinitas-Design Derby UK

Laura Bishop has been elected to the position of Chair of the Ground Source Heat Pump Association (GSHPA), and Edward Thompson has been elected as Vice-Chair.

Laura and Edward succeed Bean Beanland and Chris Davidson who stand down following the standard period of two years in office. Bean moves on to work with the newly formed Heat Pump Federation and will remain actively involved with the GSHPA as a non-voting representative on the GSHPA Council. Chris remains as the Chair of the GSHPA’s Policy Development Committee.

Laura is Director of Infinitas Design Ltd, a renewable energy engineering consultancy, is a chartered mechanical engineer and a qualified CIBSE Heat Network Consultant.  Laura’s career to date has included roles at E.ON (Connecting Energies & Sustainable Energy divisions), Babcock Intec and Rolls-Royce (Fuel Cell Systems).

Edward Thompson qualified as a Chartered Accountant and has worked in finance, computing and venture capital and has specialised in helping young companies with new ventures. Edward is a director of ICAX which has developed the ideas that led to Interseasonal Heat Transfer, Thermal Banks and solar assisted ground source energy. This novel ICAX approach to harnessing ground source energy has provided innovative systems for supermarkets, schools, community centres and fifth generation district heating networks.

Laura says: “The heat pump industry is entering a very exciting and encouraging era with the electrification of heat high on the political and environmental agendas. The opportunities for greater heat pump rollout in the UK, to help achieve Net Zero by 2050 if not sooner, have never been greater. I am very much looking forward to steering the ground source heat pump industry into new waters and supporting the UK’s efforts to reach Net Zero.”
