Retrofit project in Manchester retrains theatre staff
A retrofit project in Manchester is training theatre workers – who can’t work because of the coronavirus pandemic – to carry out retrofit work.
Stage hands, technicians and joiners are, according to this article in The Guardian, retraining so they can install insulation, fit windows and upgrade heating systems.
The Retrofit Get In scheme was set up by Andrew Glassford, formerly a sound engineer, back in September, in association with Red Co-op , and he told the paper that it has so far employed a dozen or so people, with plans to increase this number.
He said: “We have had people insulating the loft, removing a floor, insulating walls, putting in a bay window. They have done all sorts of things they would not necessarily have thought they have the skills to do with a little bit of guidance and help.”
