Update for Green Homes Grant installers

Following the recent developments to the Green Homes Grant Installer Terms & Conditions, the CEO of MCS, Ian Rippin, has issued the following statement to explain how these changes align with the subcontracting rules under MCS.

“The recent changes to the Green Homes Grant Installer Terms & Conditions now match the subcontracting rules under MCS. These require that the lead contractor be MCS certified, holds the contract with the customer and takes full responsibility for any installation work that they may choose to sub-contract. To be clear, MCS remains a requirement for contractors who wish to deliver the ‘low carbon heat’ measures under the Green Homes Grant.

“We are aware of a number of ongoing issues with the operation of the Grant scheme. MCS is working closely with BEIS to ensure rapid improvements are made to the scheme for the benefit of the sector and consumers.”
